Bandhavgarh Location:
Bandhavgarh National Park is a popular tiger reserve in Central
India. Madhya Pradesh state of India in known as Tiger State of India
where tiger population is highest in India. Some of the popular tiger
reserves of India like Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench & Satpura are in
this state. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is spread over Vindhya ranges in
Central India. Vindhya & Satpura ranges nestles some of the rare
species of wildlife in India. Bandhavgarh is in Eastern region of Madhya
Pradesh. It was declared as national park in year 1968 and became tiger
reserve in 1993. As it is just 250kms from Khajuraho and Kanha National
Park it is included in most of the tour itineraries of Central India

BANDHAVGARH - BY FLIGHT
Their are 02 important airports for reaching Bandhavgarh i.e. Jabalpur and Khajuraho.
Jabalpur Airport (IATA Code: JLR) is the nearest Airport for
reaching Bandhavgarh. It is located at a distance of 200kms/04:30hrs
from park. Jabalpur city has direct flight connectivity from Delhi and
Mumbai. At present 02 flights are operating between Jabalpur - Delhi and
01 flight between Jabalpur- Mumbai airports. As it is the nearest
airport for Kanha National Park also, it is most frequently used for
Central India Wildlife Tours. For journey from Jabapur to Bandhavgarh,
taxi cabs are recommended as no bus service operates between them.
Khajuraho Airport (IATA Code: HJR): It is second nearest airport
for Bandhavgarh at a distance of 250kms/05:30hrs drive. Khajuraho is
very popular tourist destination having World Heritage Khajuraho temples
known worldwide for its erotic temples. Khajuraho Airport has flight
connectivity from Delhi and Varanasi.For journey from Khajuraho to
Bandhavgarh, taxi cabs are recommended as no bus service operates
between them.
Umaria Airstrip Those who are traveling by charter planes, can
come up to Umaria Air-strip which is just 37kms/45mins away from
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. To reach Bandhavgarh from Umarai taxi cabs
are recommended. Their is good bus service available between them.
Other options for reaching Bandhavgarh by flight could be Nagpur Airport
(490kms/09:00hrs) and Raipur Airport (500kms/10:00hrs).

those who are traveling by Train. Katni station has direct train

From Jabalpur: Jabalpur city is very important access point for
Bandhavgarh, at a distance of 180kms. It is the nearest airport and well
connected railway station. Jabalpur is among oldest cities of Central
India since British India.
From Khajuraho: It is a World Heritage Site at a distance of
260kms from Tiger Reserve. Tourists often travel between Khajuraho &
Bandhavgarh via Panna National Park. Khajuraho is a small town with
Airport facility having connectivity with Delhi & Varanasi.
Other nearby cities and tourist spots having road connectivity with
Bandhavgarh are: Kanha National Park (260kms/06:00hrs), Satna (175kms/04:00hrs).
Among
them, Jabalpur is the most preferred point to reach by train or flight
and further journey is being done by road. Their are 03 different ways
to reach Bandhavgarh from Jabalpur i.e. via Katni city, via Sleemnabad
forest & via Shahpura tribal belt.

of them are well connected with Bandhavgarh wildlife sanctuary, by road
and can be easily reached by Train. Road conditions are almost good for reaching Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

Their
are 03 important railway stations to reach Bandhavgarh Tiger
Reserve.Umaria Railway Station (37kms) & Katni Railway Junction
(100kms/02:30hrs) and Jabalpur Railway Station (200kms/04:30hrs).
Umaria Railway StationRailway Code UMR: It is the nearest railway
station to visiting the park. Umaria railway station has direct train
connectivity with Agra & Delhi. Here 02 trains: Kaling Utkal &
Vishakapattnam Express are frequently used by visitors. Newly introduced
"Royal Maharaja Train" also reaches Umaria station for trip to
Bandhavgarh. For further journey one may choose taxi cabs or public bus
service but in nights choose only taxi as bus service is rare in night
hours.
Katni Railway Station Railway Code KTE: At a distance of 100kms,
it is the best suitable station for those who are coming from Mumbai,
Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, Delhi, Pune, Varanasi etc. Katni railway station
lies on Mumbai-Howrah railway track. It is a railway junction from which
so many important trains passes through. Traveling time between Katni
& Bandhavgarh is 02:30hrs with almost good road condition. From
Katni to Bandhavgarh, taxi service is recommended as their is not direct
bus between Katni & Bandhavgarh. One may reach Umaria by bus &
then change the bus from Umaria to Bandhavgarh but in night hours only
taxi service advised.
Jabalpur Railway Station Railway Code JBP: It is the nearest
large city to Bandhavgarh at a distance of 200kms. Being located on
Mumbai - Howrah railway track, almost all important trains going from
Eastern India to Western India or from South India to North India,
passes through Jabalpur railway station. Tourists specially from Gujarat
prefers Jabalpur station as most of the trains originates from this
station to their state. Similarly due to origin point of Mumbai-Jabalpur
Garib Rath train (fully AC Train), visitors from Mumbai & Pune
prefer to reach Jabalpur for Bandhavgarh. Only taxi service recommended
between them as no direct bus operates between Jabalpur &
Bandhavgarh.
